The IFISH Network offers researchers, safety and health professionals, workers, and industry experts the opportunity to work collectively to identify emerging issues, develop solutions and to share these with industry and workers in ways that substantively improve the welfare of aquatic food supply workers.

The IFISH Planning Committee
volunteers their time to plan and organize IFISH conferences. Scientific Committee members, likewise provide guidance and review of abstracts and programmatic components of IFISH. Membership is informal and free and the website is supported by a grant from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Our History
Founded in 2000
As demand for seafood grows worldwide, advancing the health and safety of workers in fishing, aquaculture, and seafood processing has become increasingly critical. IFISH was founded to address these global concerns.
iFish Conference
To foster international collaboration on these challenges, the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), established the International Fishing Industry Safety and Health Conference (IFISH) in 2000. These conferences are organized by local partners who provide the logistical support needed for hosting these research gatherings.
Global Impact
FAO has also supported participation from researchers in developing countries, enriching the global exchange of knowledge. IFISH conferences have been held in locations around the world
